Why Cable Scrap Has Different Price Tiers
Cable scrap is priced based on its Net Metal Yield. When scrap cables are sent to modern granulating and chopping plants, blades strip the plastic and pneumatic separators separate clean copper chops from PVC granules.
A high-voltage transmission cable might contain 80% copper and 20% jacket by weight, yielding top-tier valuation. A domestic appliance cord may be 65% plastic insulation and only 35% copper.
- High Recovery (60%-80%): Heavy feeder cables, busbar cables, industrial single-core
- Medium Recovery (45%-55%): Standard building conduit wiring (THHN/NYY)
- Low Recovery (20%-35%): Computer cables, network CAT6, thin multi-strand cords
Important Note
Important Warning: Under Saudi municipal and environmental laws, open burning of cables is illegal and carries severe fines. ScrapX only accepts unburned, legally sourced cables.
